About

My roots are deeply tied to the prairies of Manitoba, where I grew up in a small town called Russell, and roamed the land of the metis settlement, Saint-Madeleine. As a Métis artist, my creative journey has been a lifelong process of learning and discovery. It was about 10 years ago, while raising my children as a single parent, that I first picked up a paintbrush, taught myself to paint and put my BFA to work to support my family. I quickly found a passion for creating large murals, and pop surrealism. Focusing on cautionary tales and fantasy motifs,  using ethereal colour palettes that capture attention.

More recently, I was honored to learn the art of leatherworking from an elder during the pandemic. This beautiful craft has led me down a fruitful path, naturally merging into a beading circle, further connecting me with fellow Indigenous Canadian artists. I've learned more about myself and traditional practices.

I  pour my heart into creating handmade leather pieces. My work is a true reflection of who I am, a blend of my self-taught painting skills and the traditional knowledge passed down to me, all inspired by the unique landscape and spirit of the prairies.

My work is a direct expression of my commitment to eco-conscious practices and the core values of my culture, which emphasize respect and resourcefulness. By focusing on upcycling and giving new life to reclaimed materials, I honor the teachings passed down to me. Each item I create is a physical link to my roots and a testament to the beauty of thoughtful craftsmanship.
